Daimh: Celtic Connections, Germany, USA, and Birl-Esque

Happy New Year everybody, hope you all had a great one! 2017 was a fantastic year for us as it was our 20th anniversary and 2018 is already off to a flying start! Right now we are half way through January and that means the biggest winter festival in Europe; Celtic Connections is in full swing and we've got a really exciting sold-out concert that we are part of celebrating the Isle of Eigg's 20th Anniversary of it's independance with a brilliant night of music featuring ourselves, The Pictish Trail, Ja'Ma'Tha Ceilidh Band, The Massacre Cave and DJ Dolphin Boy. Back in November we went on a 2 week tour of Germany as part of Highland Blast. We had a brilliant time playing alongside the brilliant Talisk and stepdancer; Sophie Stevenson. We were so well looked after by Sean and all of the Feuersteins, even kept us in check with our daily rations. Keep an eye out for their next Scottish tour of Germany as it's a great night out with music, dancing, whisky and even an raffle!

In February and March we're excited to be heading back Stateside with gigs in the Mid-west and West Coast. We'll be joined on this tour by fiddler and great friend of the band; Alasdair White. Find the dates on our poster and also more info on our website.

Eilidh Shaw and Ross Martin finally embarked on a long awaited duo project last year after a mere 10 years of discussion.

Both are probably best known for their work with two top traditional bands; Eilidh with The Poozies and Ross with Dàimh, although some may recall the early 2000s when they made up 2 fifths of the cult folk explosion that was Harem Scarem.

Between them they have been at the heart of the Scottish Music scene over the last 20 years and have toured the world both with their own groups and performing as guest artists with a vast array of top performers, clocking up over 100 album appearances with names as diverse as Gaelic Superstar Julie Fowlis, Alt-Country legend Bonnie Prince Billy, Classic Crooner Tony Christie and World Music/ Jazz Fusion impresario Arnaud Ciapolino.

The duo project sees them perform in a comfortably intimate setting, showcasing music from their native Highlands that has been passed down to them by previous generations, and combining it with more modern compositions.

Their recent sell-out concert at Celtic Connections falls in with their ambitious world tour, somewhere between Ballachulish and Las Vegas.
