Biography

Bookends Promo Image 1In 2011 two old school friends decided to create a theatre show to celebrate the music of their favourite artists Simon and Garfunkel, now Dan Haynes and Pete Richards are wowing audiences around the world with their stunning performances. The show is a multilayered theatre experience which, as well as incredible accurate live renditions of the iconic songs also features images, original footage and interviews with Simon and Garfunkel themselves. Backed by a live string quartet, the show also features narration written by Victoria Kingston, the author of Simon and Garfunkel – The Definitive Biography.

The show has been described by the BBC as “not your average tribute show”, they don’t dress up or try to act like Simon and Garfunkel but instead pay tribute to the iconic sound that the duo are famous for by recreating the perfect harmonies, timing and diction that mesmerised a generation. Since their emergence into the entertainment world Dan and Pete, collectively known as Bookends (the name is taken from Simon and Garfunkel’s fourth studio album) have enjoyed huge success and performed to audiences across the UK and Ireland as well as two consecutive sell-out runs at the 2014 and 2015 Edinburgh Festivals.

Watch as these six musicians blend together to create something truly spellbinding. Hear songs such as Homeward Bound, Mrs. Robinson and Bookends’ own powerful, yet subtle arrangement of the classic Bridge Over Troubled Water. The show is a must see for any true music lover with Bookends being, without doubt the most authentic sounding tribute to Simon and Garfunkel in the entire world.
